Coastal Quilters Events

May 18: Work Parties preparing for camp at Engel condo, 245 HIghway A1A, Unit #601, Satellite Beach. We'll clean machines, cut fabrics, package kits, share ideas, and enjoy lunching together. Bring your lunch. Tea, coffee, chocolate will be ready. Please email margie@cfl.rr.com if you are coming.

Camp stats: to date we have close to 30 campers, most in the afternoon since that is when both 2nd and 3rd year kids convene. Karin Jacobson is camp director, esp. for the beginners, where we needed her expertise, and we know we'll have fun and laughter galore. Volunteer numbers look good, so noone will be overworked.

June 17 - 21: Kids Summer Quilt Camp at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 638 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach.. There will be three levels: beginners in the morning and second and third year for repeating campers in the afternoon. The scholarship program begun by Clarice Weathers in memory of a dear friend has escalated as women who cannot physically work at camp were excited that they could sponsor a child. This will be ongoing and will enable us to do more with The Block Buster Gang as well.

JUNE 29 - BRUNCH POTLUCK FOR ALL CAMP VOLUNTEERS AND CQ MEMBERS
Put this on your calendar for a morning potluck brunch at Brad and Karin Jacobson's home. We will celebrate camp and salute the future of Coastal Quilters. Details forthcoming.

July 20 and August 17: QAKH Quilt-ins at The Scotty Culp Auditorium on Cassia Blvd. in Satellite Beach. This continues as a community event. Tell all your friends who just love to sew without having to overly concentrate that this is the place to be. We can stay in the room from 9 to 4:30!!! Bring your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Thanks to Sheryl Milner (EdQ's Vice Pres) and Sylvia Clary (EdQ's creative consultant!) for their coordinating this and for keeping ahead with QAKH quilt kits. Jeanne Tremblay is another expert QAKH kit cutter and is available to answer questions.

For membership: a $15 check made out to EduQuilters and mailed to Marty Davis, 9650 Tropical Trail, Merritt Island covers both EduQuilters and Coastal Quilters. The benefits? The knowledge that you are doing something great for Brevard kids, that you are enhancing your own skills, that you are part of a very wonderful group of caring volunteers, and that there are extra stars in your tiara!
